This week I worked on a project, where I used a 3d printer to make a print block, which I then used to print a template for a paper star. The whole project was somewhat inspired by this instagram reel.
In this project I took small cardboard boxes and added line drawings to them. The space the drawing takes up is defined by where the tape removed from the boxes teared the cardboard surface, giving interesting shapes. I like how this is a simple project creating pretty storage boxes from packaging that might have been trashed otherwise.
I like the format of postcards for paintings, as their small format is a restriction challenging your creativity. An additional advantage of the format is that you can then use the paintings as actual postcards and greeting cards for your friends’ birthdays. :)
Similar to the gradients, these paintings focus on the colors that are depicted. I really like these colors and enjoy the textures and shapes that are explored in the still simple paintings.
Have a look at the collection in the Gallery / Areas.
The method of just doing a brush stroke is simple, but I really enjoy that simplicity. I find the empty space being as much center of the paintings as the brush strokes and am still amazed by how much a singe stroke of a brush can convey.
I enjoy the colors that can be depicted by painting just a gradient. I keep the gradients usually within one color family and like exploring different textures therein.
